Your files on SkyDrive

Your files on SkyDrive are never far away in Windows

Your files on SkyDrive are never far away

With Windows 8 and Windows RT, you've already got SkyDrive and 7 GB of free file storage in the cloud. Your Microsoftaccount links you seamlessly from your PC to SkyDrive, so your files in the cloud are quicker to get to than ever.
With the SkyDrive app for Windows 8 and Windows RT, you can:
  • View your files on SkyDrive, including files shared with you, and Office documents you recently opened.
  • Upload files on your PC to SkyDrive so you can access them from other computers or from your smartphone.
  • Download files from SkyDrive onto your PC.
  • Share files to and from SkyDrive by using the Share charm. For example, you can choose the Mail app to send an email message with a link to a photo that's on SkyDrive.

With the SkyDrive app, you can also upload or open files on SkyDrive from other Windows Store apps on your PC. For example, in the Mail app, you can save a photo you received in email to your SkyDrive. Or when you're picking a lock-screen picture, you can open a photo from your SkyDrive.

Your photos on SkyDrive also automatically appear in the Photos app.

Tip

  • Install the SkyDrive desktop app for Windows, and you can also keep copies of files on different computers in sync and browse files and folders on one PC from another (the Pictures libraries on your other PCs appear in the Photos app).
