SPEED UP YOUR WINDOWS 10 COMPUTER

I/ Check Memory Utilization

Windows XP – at lease 1GB
Windows Vista – at least 2GB
Windows 7 – at least 2GB
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 – at least 2GB
Windows 10 – at least 2GB

II/ Check CPU Performance and Utilization
We want lower CPU utilization. In this case below, the CPU utilization is 18%.
III/ Clean up the Desktop
Make sure the desktop is clean, and is not cluttered with lots of downloaded files and folders. Ensuring this will lead to faster loading of the Operating System.
IV/ Check System Files
Launch CMD as Administrator.
Type the following command:
sfc /scannow
This launches the system file checker. It will ensure important system files are in good working order.
After scanning for errors and corruptions, if issues are found, they will be automatically fixed.
V/ Uninstall unneeded applications
The more applications you have on the system, the more convoluted the registry will get. Therefore, this convolution will cause your system to be “confused” and is a reason for slow down. By removing unneeded applications, we will eliminate these registry confusions and can potentially speed up the system tremendously.
In the Control Panel, you can use “Programs and Features” to remove the unneeded application.
VI/ Configure the BIOS properly
Make sure the boot order is correctly set to boot from the System drive.
Ensure the date and time is correctly set.
Change the disk drive setting to the fastest configuration possible.

VII/ Patch your computer
Always update your computer to the latest patches. Install all updates regardless whether they are Optional or Critical. Also ensure that the automatic update service is running so that Microsoft can push updates to the computer when possible.
Click StartSettings and choose Update & Security.
Make sure that the system is up to date. Then choose Advanced Options.
Ensure “Automatic (Recommended)” is selected.

VIII/ Ensure Antivirus is up to date
Ensure there is only one Antivirus program running on the system whether it be Panda, ESET NOD, Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee, etc… Only one single Antivirus application can be used on any one computer. If you install more than one, it will do more harm than good.
Ensure Antivirus is up to date and ensure to perform periodic automatic drive scans to prevent infections.

IX/ Eliminate Spyware
Use SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes to remove all Spyware and Malware.
Some other options are Spybot, LavaSoft’s Ad-Aware, Yahoo Toolbar with Anti-Spy, Spyware Blaster, Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner. Some commercial products are SpywareDoctor and CA AntiSpyware (Pest Patrol).
X/ Eliminate Unneeded Startup Apps
Open Task Manager and click the Startup tab.
Highlight the application you want to disable at startup and click Disable.
XI/ Defragment the Hard Drive
Open CMD as Administrator, type:
cfrgui
Press Enter.

XIII/ Move Page file to a different Partition
Right-click the Start menu, choose System. Click Advanced System Settings.
Click Settings

You can checkmark on the locations you want to index here. Also, exclusions can be made to avoid slowdown of the system.

Change the option to “Adjust for best performance
XVI/ Clean the Registry
